As of December 1, 2020, road testing is now administered by the Government of Alberta through Alberta Registries. What does this mean for you as an Albertan? There really isn't a change for you. The big difference is that this means where and how you will book your road tests will differ. All examiners will still be working in accordance with policy and procedure as they did prior to December 1, 2020 with the key difference being where to book.
You may book online by clicking this link and save yourself the time coming in to see us: https://www.albertadriverexaminer.ca/?registry=253
When booking online please be sure the location is Shawnessy Licence & Registry. If you have a government mandated exam, are under suspension or are unsure of whether you are eligible for the exam - come see us.
We have a strict parameter of rules for attempting a road test.
The fees for doing a road test, depends on the class of test you do. Click here to see the fees.
Any and all questions, compliments or criticism can be directed to Alberta Transportation you may reach them by phone at: 780-427-8230 or by email: [email protected]

You will be required to bring your drivers licence and paperwork stating that you have been requested to do the test.
The first road test is free of charge. Should you not pass the exam, you would be required to pay for the test if you attempt it again.
